Sex therapy
Integral sex therapy in Marbella, with two specialists.
Struggling with desire or pleasure? Pain during intimacy? Questions about your orientation or identity? Changes in your sexuality due to motherhood, menopause or stress? Our sex therapy is delivered as co-therapy with two specialists, Isabel and Pepa, in a 1 hour 30 minute session. A confidential, non-judgmental space tailored to you, where you can explore what you feel and recover a satisfying relationship with your sexuality.
Co-therapy: Isabel Agüera San Martín (Reg. AO11678) and Pepa, sex therapist.
Who is this for?
People in relationships
If you feel something has changed in your sexual relationship, if there are differences in desire between you, if you experience pain or the spark has simply faded, couples sex therapy is a space where both of you feel heard and can reconnect without pressure.
People on their own
If you have questions about your sexuality, experience sexual difficulties, are going through a life change (menopause, transition, loss) that affects your desire, or simply want to explore and understand your sexuality better, individual therapy is a safe space just for you.
Most common reasons for consultation
Desire and libido
Changes in sexual desire, loss of libido, differences in desire with your partner. We explore what's behind it and how to recover interest.
Pain during intimacy
Pain during penetration or any intimate contact. Often it has a solution and is more related to stress or muscle tension patterns than to physical damage.
Arousal or orgasm difficulties
You can't get excited, struggle to reach orgasm, or feel your body doesn't respond the way it used to. There are strategies that work very well.
Sexual identity and orientation
Questions about your orientation, gender identity, or you simply need a space to explore without judgment how you feel and what you desire.
Impact of life changes
Motherhood, menopause, hormonal changes, grief, work stress. Events that impact your body, mind and relationship with sexuality.
Body image concerns
Insecurities about your body that affect your sexual pleasure. We work on recovering confidence and pleasure from a kinder relationship with yourself.
How we work
Sessions are delivered as co-therapy: Isabel and Pepa, two sex therapy specialists, present in every session. That means two trained perspectives in the room, stronger emotional containment and, where useful, two-voice interventions. The approach combines clinical sexology, psychotherapy and a systemic perspective (how your partner and context affect your sexuality). It is a space where there is no judgment, only understanding and concrete tools so you can recover sexual wellbeing.
First session: confidential assessment
We talk about what brings you here, when it started, how it affects you. No rush, no pressure. Everything is confidential. At the end you have a clear picture of what we can work on together.
Exploration and psychoeducation
We understand together what's happening (sometimes it's just lack of information, sometimes there are emotions or patterns maintaining it). I explain clearly what is normal, what options are available.
Strategies and exercises at your pace
I suggest exercises or practices you do at home, at your own pace, without pressure. These might be breathing techniques, changes in how you relate to your body, or conversations with your partner.
Follow-up and adjustment
We see how things are going, adjust what doesn't work, celebrate progress. Gradually you recover a more comfortable and pleasurable relationship with your sexuality.
Your therapeutic team
Isabel Agüera San Martín
Sex therapist · Psychologist · Reg. AO11678 · Degree in Psychology (Licenciatura), Universidad de Málaga · Master’s in Sexuality and Couples Therapy
Isabel is a registered psychologist and sexologist specialised in integral sex therapy. She combines her university training in psychology with a specialisation in sexology, which allows her to address sexual difficulties from a holistic perspective: what you feel, what you think, how you relate to your body, and how you interact with your partner.
Sex therapy sessions are delivered together with Pepa, a sex therapist and Isabel's colleague, working as co-therapists. That second sexology-trained perspective enriches the clinical reading, supports couples better and allows two-voice interventions when useful. They work in coordination, with shared clinical criteria.
The team's approach is completely non-judgmental. Sexuality is a natural and fundamental aspect of life, and changes, doubts and difficulties are part of the human experience. The consulting room is a safe space where you can talk, ask questions and explore without shame.

The first session costs the same and doesn't commit you to continue. It is an assessment where we explore what brings you in and plan the path forward together.
Frequently asked questions about sex therapy
- Is what I share in sex therapy confidential?
- Completely. Everything you share is protected by professional confidentiality. What happens in the session stays there. This is a space where you can talk about your sexuality without judgment.
- How do I know if what I'm going through is "serious enough" to come?
- If you are asking yourself that question, it is already a good time. Many people spend years with sexual difficulties thinking they are "trivial", "just their own thing", or that "it will pass". They almost never pass on their own, and they are almost always lived with shame or in silence. You don't have to justify your discomfort, or wait until it severely affects your life or your relationship. Coming earlier makes the process shorter and gentler.
- How many sessions will I need?
- It depends on what you bring. Some difficulties are resolved with a few sessions of psychoeducation and concrete exercises. Others require longer work, especially if there is chronic pain, difficult past experiences or complex relationship dynamics. In the first session we give you a realistic estimate, with no promises.
- What happens in the first session? Do I have to tell you everything from the start?
- In the first session we listen. There is no questionnaire, nothing you have to "know how to explain". You share what feels comfortable and we go at your pace. We ask questions to understand what is happening, since when, and how it affects you. At the end we explain what we can work on together and how. There is no obligation to continue.
- Can I come alone or should I bring my partner?
- Sex therapy can be individual or with your partner, depending on what you need. If you come alone, we work on what you experience. If you come as a couple, we can address communication, synchronisation and pleasure from both perspectives. What matters is that everyone who attends wants to be there.
- In sex therapy, do we just talk or is there more?
- In sex therapy we talk. There is never any physical contact during sessions. What we do is explore what you feel, what thoughts or emotions come up, and work with concrete strategies (often called "homework" or "assigned exercises") that you practise at home, at your own pace, whenever you choose.
- What if I don't connect with you? Can I change therapist?
- Yes, no problem. Sex therapy needs a high level of trust, so if you don't feel it, tell us. Sometimes we can adjust the approach, sometimes the most useful thing is to refer you to another professional. The priority is that it serves you.
- Do I have a "problem" if I have sexual difficulties?
- It's not a problem, it's much more common than you think. Many people experience difficulties with desire, pain or changes in sexual response at some point in their lives. They are often connected to stress, hormonal changes, relationship dynamics or simply a lack of information. There is nothing "broken" about you. Sex therapy helps you understand what is happening and recover a satisfying relationship with your own body and sexuality.
- How much does a sex therapy session cost?
- A sex therapy session costs €100. It lasts one hour and a half and is delivered as co-therapy by two specialists, Isabel and Pepa. In the first session we do a full assessment and explain what we can work on together. There is no obligation to continue.
- Can sex therapy be done online?
- Yes, sex therapy works very well online. If you prefer not to come in person or you live outside Marbella, we can work via video call. The space is just as confidential and safe.
