Who is this for?

Individual therapy is for adults who want to understand what is happening inside them and change what is not working. You do not need a crisis to get started.

Emotional difficulties

Anxiety, fear, panic, low mood, persistent sadness, guilt or shame. Feelings that hold you back or cause distress, and you want to learn to manage them better.

Life difficulties

Work stress, relationship problems, low self-esteem, losses (grief), unexpected life changes (separation, job change, retirement). Times when you need support to find your direction again.

Common reasons for seeking help

Anxiety and panic

Panic attacks, generalised anxiety, specific fears. We learn to understand anxiety and manage it with strategies that work.

Depression and low mood

Persistent sadness, loss of motivation, lack of energy. We work to recover direction and purpose in your life.

Work stress and burnout

Exhaustion at work, difficulties with colleagues or supervisors, feeling overwhelmed. We find sustainable ways to work and live.

Self-esteem issues

Insecurity, self-criticism, feeling not good enough. We learn to know ourselves better and treat ourselves with compassion.

Grief and loss

Death of a loved one, end of a relationship, loss of an important project. Support through the process of accepting and moving forward.

Life transitions

Major life changes (retirement, parenthood, moving to a new country), times of uncertainty. Help to reorient yourself in a new chapter.

How we work

Vicente works from an integrative approach with humanistic roots: he combines emotional work with cognitive-behavioural tools and, when needed, a systemic perspective on your context and relationships. We do not just talk about the problem; we work with concrete strategies tailored to you.

1

First session: understanding and assessment

We listen to what is happening, how long it has been going on, and how it is affecting your life. We ask questions but do not judge. By the end you have a clear map of the situation and a realistic proposal for moving forward.

2

Working sessions

We work together to understand what is happening, what keeps it in place, and what changes you need. We use practical tools you can apply in your daily life.

3

Practice and consolidation

Between sessions, you practise what we have worked on. Your involvement outside the consultation is what creates real change. We review what works and adjust as needed.

Frequently asked questions about individual therapy

Who is individual therapy for?
Individual therapy is for adults going through emotional difficulties (anxiety, depression, work stress, low self-esteem, grief or life changes) who want to understand what is happening and make a change. You do not need a crisis or a formal diagnosis to start, it is enough to feel that something is not right and want to work on it.
How do I know if what I'm going through is "serious enough" to see a psychologist?
If you're asking yourself that, it has probably been on your mind for a while. Therapy is not only for crises. Many people come with discomforts that seem "small" (persistent stress, a thought loop that won't stop, a constant sense of not being well) and discover it was worth talking about. You don't have to justify your suffering to anyone in order to ask for help.
What approach do you use?
I work from an integrative approach with humanistic roots, combining emotional work with cognitive-behavioural tools and, when needed, a systemic perspective on your context and relationships. We don't just talk about the problem, we work with concrete strategies tailored to you.
What happens in the first session? Do I have to tell you everything?
The first session is for me to listen and understand what brings you in. You don't have to prepare or arrive with everything in order. You share what you can, the rest will come up in later sessions. At the end I give you a clear picture of what I see and what I would propose. Then you decide whether to continue.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you are experiencing. In the first session I make an assessment and give you a realistic estimate. Some processes take 6 to 12 sessions, others benefit from longer-term support. The pace is something we set together.
What if I don't connect with you? Can I change therapist or stop?
Yes, and it's a healthy question. You can raise it whenever you want, without justifying yourself. Therapy works better when there is trust, so if you don't feel it, tell me. Sometimes it's about adjusting the approach, sometimes about referring you to another professional. What matters is that the process serves you.
I take medication or I see a psychiatrist. Can you coordinate with them?
Yes, and ideally we should. Psychologist and psychiatrist work on different but complementary planes. With your authorisation, I can coordinate with your psychiatrist so that the medication and the psychotherapy point in the same direction. Medication doesn't replace therapy, and therapy doesn't always replace medication. What matters is that both spaces support each other.
Can I do therapy online?
Yes. We offer sessions by video call for people living outside Marbella or who prefer online therapy. Online sessions are equally effective as in-person therapy in most cases.
How much does individual therapy cost?
An individual therapy session costs €60 and lasts one hour. The first session costs the same and carries no obligation to continue.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is fundamental. Everything you share is protected by professional confidentiality. The only exceptions are situations involving serious risk to you or others, which by law we must report to the relevant authorities.
