Therapy for adolescents (12-18) going through a hard time: anxiety, self-esteem, conflicts at home or at school, substance use or problematic behaviours. We work with the family too, without breaking the trust your teenager has with us.

Who is this for?

It's for adolescents between 12 and 18 going through a difficult patch, and for their families. Adolescence brings real changes, not just "a phase that will pass". When something lasts, weighs, or isolates, it deserves attention.

Your teenager

Anxiety, persistent low mood, low self-esteem, withdrawal, conflict at school, self-harm, suspected ADHD or autism, eating issues, substance use, or problematic use of screens and video games.

The family

When a teenager is struggling at home, the whole family is struggling. We work with you too: practical guidance, communication, sustainable limits and an open channel that doesn't invade your teenager's privacy.

Common reasons for consultation

Anxiety and self-esteem

Worries that don't stop, perfectionism, feeling "less than" others. We work on what sits underneath and on tools they can use day-to-day.

Family conflict

Constant arguments, distance, the sense of not being able to talk. We work with your teenager and with you to open a real channel, without blame.

Difficulties at school

Falling grades, lack of motivation, exam anxiety, problems with classmates or teachers. Coordination with the school where needed.

Substance use

Cannabis, alcohol or other substances. Vicente specialises in addictions in adolescents; the approach combines individual and family work.

Problematic behaviours

Problematic use of screens, video games or online gambling. We work both on what the behaviour covers and on practical strategies to reduce its weight.

ADHD, autism and conduct

Suspected or already diagnosed. Support for the teenager, guidance for the family, and coordination with psychiatry or the school where needed.

How we work with adolescents

Recovery in adolescence rarely happens in isolation from the family. The process combines individual sessions with your teenager and parent meetings, with respect for their privacy as the foundation.

1

First contact with the family

Usually with you (a parent) by phone or WhatsApp. You tell us what's going on, we explain how we work, and together we decide how to bring it up to your teenager.

2

First session with your teenager

Vicente meets your teenager in the consulting room (alone or with you, depending on the case). He sets out the rules: what's said, what stays inside the session, what they can trust. No secrecy, no leverage.

3

Individual sessions and parent meetings

Individual sessions are your teenager's space. In parallel, occasional meetings with you to review progress, give guidance and coordinate. If needed, also with their psychiatrist, GP or school.

4

Closing and maintenance

When the main issue is stable, we space out sessions and close the process. The door stays open: many adolescents return at specific moments over the following years, and that's part of healthy support.

Vicente Pérez Díaz

Licensed Psychologist · Reg. AO08585 · Degree in Psychology (Licenciatura), Universidad de Málaga

Vicente practises at Ergo Psicología in Marbella. Before private practice he worked eight years at a treatment centre for adolescents with behavioural difficulties: eating disorders, mild and moderate autism, substance use, social withdrawal, self-harm, ADHD, depression and family conflict. That experience gives him a particularly trained therapeutic eye on adolescence.

His approach is integrative, with humanistic roots: he combines emotional work with cognitive-behavioural tools and, where the case calls for it, a systemic lens on the family. Direct, non-judgemental, with realistic plans.

Fees

€50 / 1h

Occasional parent meetings are agreed within the process. No contracts, no commitment: pay per session, decide whether to continue.

Teen therapy FAQ

What ages do you see?
We see adolescents between 12 and 18 years old. For younger children, or for cases where the family is the main driver of change, we discuss it on a first call and point you in the right direction.
My teenager doesn't want to come. What do I do?
Very common. Our recommendation is not to force it. The most useful step is usually for the parents to come first, one or two sessions, to understand what's happening and design how to bring it up. When the proposal comes from a different place, many teenagers end up agreeing. And if not, we can still work with the family.
Will Vicente meet with us as parents?
Yes, and it's important. When the patient is a minor, individual sessions with your teenager are combined with parent meetings (we set the cadence at the start). What's said in the individual session is protected by professional confidentiality, but we share guidance, progress and joint work.
Confidentiality? Will you tell us everything they say?
No. What your teenager shares in session is protected by professional confidentiality, the same as with any other patient. Without that trust, therapy doesn't work. The only exceptions are situations of serious risk (self-harm, suicidal ideation, abuse, risk to others), which by law we have to report. We explain that to your teenager and to you from day one.
What kind of issues do you treat in teenagers?
Anxiety, self-esteem, conflict at home or at school, academic difficulty, social withdrawal, self-harm, suspected ADHD or autism, eating issues, substance use and problematic behaviours (screens, video games, online gambling). Vicente spent eight years working at a treatment centre for adolescents with behavioural difficulties.
And if there is substance use or problematic behaviour?
It's one of Vicente's specialist areas. The approach combines individual work with the teenager, coordination with the family and, when needed, with the school or GP.
How many sessions does a teenager usually need?
It depends on the issue. Brief processes can close in 8-12 sessions; more complex processes (behavioural disorders, established substance use, deeper family conflict) need longer support. We give you a realistic estimate after the first session.
Do you offer teen therapy online?
Yes, but with adolescents we prefer in-person whenever possible. Video calls are useful when travel is not feasible or as a complement, not as the only channel.
How much does a teen therapy session cost?
A teen therapy session costs €50 and lasts one hour. Occasional parent meetings are agreed within the process.
